Partly Facetious: Jamali vs 'Jamali' referee's decision awaited

12 Aug, 2006

"Jamali pulled another Jamali."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, remember when he set history by agreeing to be a short term PM..."
"Right, and then Chaudhry Jaat followed suit. But mind there was a difference - one with ambitions to stay behind the scenes and the other dismissed more or less..."
"Behind the scenes! He is all over the place with all the duties and benefits of a PM."
"A sitting PM has benefits in our current set-up - duties have to be commensurate with their expertise."
"I get it. So while the Chosen One dabbles in the economy the Chaudhry is manipulating the politicians."
"Division of labour."
"Each man must be charged with what they can do."
"BB and Nawaz Sharif eat your heart out!"
"Don't be facetious. Where the President wears a uniform a PM is not really an important post - sure he or she gets full protocol, foreign trips but no power."
"But I hear the Chaudhry was flabbergasted at Jamali pulling another Jamali."
"Why? What did Jamali pull?"
"Said he is going to stand up for the post of Secretary General of the PML (Lota)."
"My, my, so what happens to our Mushahid Hussain?"
"Two things can happen."
"What?"
"Well both have to do with the President so I guess actually only one thing can happen."
"And that is?"
"That is the President would be pleased or displeased with Jamali for his new found ambitions."
"So Mushahid would not win without..."
"Without the President, no."
"But Mushahid says we are a democratic..."
"Indeed we are - a democracy that works to boot. Everyone knows their place."
"Except Jamali now!"
"Right."
"But technically can the President interfere in the PML (lota) party that openly."
"Has this technicality bothered him ever?"
"Nope."
"So there you go. Besides the Chaudhry when asked said he will have to wait for the President's view on our Jamali pulling a Jamali."
"OK."
