General Ahsan Saleem Hayat, Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCoAS) visited North Waziristan in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). He was given detailed briefing by General Officers Commanding Major General Azhar Ali Shah in North Waziristan Agency, about security situation in the areas, operational readiness and developmental works.
Later, while talking to the troops during his visit, General Ahsan Saleem Hayat appreciated the role of the Pakistan Army in war against terrorism. He said that Pakistan Army is highly professional and fully capable of defending boundaries of the motherland.
Paying rich tributes to the troops of Army and Frontier Corps, VCOAS said that they have lived up to the traditions of valour and courage of the Pakistan Army.
He said that the sacrifices of the officers and men have not only elevated Pakistan's stature in the comity of the nations but also made Pakistan a safer place. He appreciated ongoing developmental projects and urged that these be pursued with greater rigour. Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamid Khan also accompanied the VCoAS during the visit.
