BoP to provide Rs seven billion loans to growers

Bank of Punjab would provide loans to the tune of Rs7 billion to growers during the current fiscal year. The President of the Bank, Hamesh Khan, stated this while taking to newsmen at the inauguration of BoP's display centre in DHA here on Saturday.
He said the bank achieved the target of disbursement of loans of Rs5 billion among the farmers last year adding that this year's target would also be achieved.
To a question regarding percentage of the loan amount fixed for small growers, he said, "BOP advance loan only to growers having land holding up to 50 acres."
About modernisation of the bank, he said, a comprehensive plan was being implemented under which 75 of the total 266 branches of the bank were being remodelled in the first phase.
