Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Co-ordination, Senator Salim Saifullah Khan said that the Federal Government has approved 118 kilometres Gandi- D I Khan dual highway for the southern districts of NWFP and disclosed that work would shortly commence on the project.
He said that the National Highway Authority (NHA) has signed an agreement with international consultants to finalise the design of this project. In a statement here on Saturday, Senator Salim Saifullah Khan said that Gandi- D I Khan road was the long-standing demand of the people of the southern districts, which would be accomplished due to the efforts of the federal government.
He thanked Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and officials of NHA and said that the completion of the Gandi- D I Khan road would greatly benefit the people of the southern districts and would usher in the new era of progress and development in these under developed areas.
Construction of this road would bolster commercial activities in the area besides facilitating vehicular transportation in the tribal areas and many districts of Punjab province, he opined. The federal minister said that the Prime Minister would shortly inaugurate the construction work on the same.
