Failed Israeli aggression

14 Aug, 2006

The Lebanon war is now in its fourth week. The Israel must now evaluate what they have achieved so far except the destruction of Lebanon and massacre of innocent Lebanese civilians. The Israeli population has also suffered heavily now living under constant threat of rockets fired by Hezbollah resistance fighters.
The initial strategic objective of the Israeli onslaught on Lebanon was to retrieve the captured soldiers from Hezbollah and when they failed to achieve that they changed it to elimination of Hezbollah.
After four weeks of heavy aerial bombardment and ground operations involving over 10,000 troops, they have failed to achieve any of their stated objectives. Instead, the myth of invincibility of Israeli armed forces, which is termed as one of the best armies, has been shattered. Now the Israeli armed forces look more vulnerable. The resistance, shown by the Hezbollah, will embolden other resistance groups resisting the Israeli occupation in Palestine.
Israel and the US should now realise that these are changing times and gone are the days of aggression and oppression. The policies pursued by Israel and US will serve the cause of radical elements and lead to more hatred against both. Now, there will be more foot soldiers available to these organisations. The end result will not be pleasing for anybody.
