Compal Electronics Inc, the world's second-largest laptop contract maker, said on August 09 that its second-quarter net profit was T$1.689 billion (US $51 million), down 7.7 percent from T$1.83 billion a year earlier. The result lagged analyst expectations of T$2.13 billion, according to Reuters Estimates.
The Compal, a supplier to Dell Inc and Hewlett-Packard Co, competes with sector leader Quanta Computer Inc.
