CBR old tax record disposal to be expedited

16 Aug, 2006

The disposal process of old tax record is very slow at CBR Headquarters, it is learnt. Sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that CBR Members are not taking this exercise seriously despite repeated directives of the Administration Wing. The exercise was started in March 2004, but has not been completed as yet. Now, the Board has set the deadline of September 15 for disposal of this record.
As the Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) will become functional during the current year, the exercise to shift taxpayers' record to RTOs would be started in due course of time. Under these circumstances, disposal of old record needs to be completed without any further delay.
According to fresh instructions issued to CBR Members, the old record was dumped in various sections, which needed to be disposed of. All unnecessary waste papers, newspapers, books, folders and cartons should be handed over to the 'Record Committee' of the Admin Wing. Moreover, the old record, not needed in different sections, would be transferred to the 'Record Room' after categorisation, the directive said.
