"Those employees of the city government continue performing their duties honestly, City government will increase their salaries and other incentives will be provided to them," Mustafa Kamal said while addressing the city government employees at the Civic Centre Auditorium on Tuesday.
On the occasion, District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Fazalur Rehman, Managing Director (MD) Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Brigadier Iftikhar Haider, EDO Works and Services Sarfaraz Ali Shah, EDO Revenue Roshan Ali Sheikh, EDO Health Department Khalid Sheikh, District Officer Human Resource Management Masood Aalum and other city government officials were also present.
According to the city government officials, on the directives of the City Nazim the employees of Malaria Department, that is the sub-department of Health Department, were called to appear on Tuesday morning at 9:00am for physical verifications.
According to the city government's documents, there are 850 employees of Malaria Department, out of which 650 employees have received their July salaries, while only 400 of them remained physically present during the month. Later, addressing to them, the City Nazim said that they had been employed to work in emergency situation in order to provide relief to citizens during rains, if they did not bring a significant change then there was no need to keep them in the department.
"If you perform your duties honestly and properly, there will be no stagnant rainwater on roads and streets during and after the monsoon rains," he maintained.
