The Anti-violence Crime Cell (AVCC) on Tuesday arrested three more persons, allegedly involved in the assassination of Allama Hasan Turabi. DSP Khurram Waris of AVCC said that the Cell on a tip-off conducted a raid at a place on Nishtar Road under the jurisdiction of Garden Police and arrested three persons who were behind the suicidal attack of Allama Turabi.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Saleem s/o Taj Mohammad, Mohammad Ashfaq Qureshi s/o Mohammad Akhlaq Qureshi and Mohammad Akbar s/o Haji Mohammad.
Khurram said that as per earlier plan, Mohammad Saleem had to attack the cleric, but the plan was changed later, and Abdul Karim Bengali blew himself killing the Allama and his nephew.
He said that Mohammad Ashfaq had prepared Abdul Karim to do the job. Police has recovered one TT pistol from their possession and further investigations are underway.
