The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has announced Kamal-e-Fun Award for the year 2005. Prominent writer/poet/scholar Nabi Bux Khan Baloch has been nominated for Kamal-e-Fun Award 2005.
The panel of judges consisted of well known writers Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, Dr Farman Fatehpuri, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Ayaz Daudzai, Dr Riaz Majeed, Zaitoon Bano, Nisar Aziz Butt and Muhammad Ayub Baloch met on Tuesday in the office of Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad, while Mazharul Haq Siddiqui presided over the meeting.
Kamal-e-Fun Award is the highest literary award in the field of literature for recognition of lifetime's achievement in creative and research work. The amount of this award is Rs 500,000/-
PAL has also announced the National Literary Awards for the year 2005 on the best literacy books written during the year in Pakistani languages, Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, Seraiki, Brahui and in English language.
According to the decision of the panel, for Urdu poetry Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal Award was given to Shahzad Ahmad on his book "Aaney Wala Kal", (Judges: Aftab Iqbal Shamim, Dr Saleem Akhtar, Dr Rubina Tareen), in Urdu Prose "Baba-I-Urdu Dr Molvi Abdul Haq Award was given to Dr Aslam Farrukhi on his book "Laal Sabz Kabootaroon Kee Chhatri", (Judges: Intizar Hussain, Dr Anwar Sadeed, Zahida Hina, in Punjabi "Syed Waris Shah Award" was given to Mir Tanha Yousufi on his book "Kaala Chanan" (Judges: Dr Shahbaz Malik, Farkhanda Lodhi, Shafqat Tanveer Mirza) in Sindhi "Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Award" was given to Muhammad Hussain Kashif on his book "Latifi Fiker Ain Suran Jee Sajah" (Judges: Hameed Sindhi, Dr Ghulam Ali Alana, Imdad Hussaini) in Pashto "Khushall Khan Kahttak Award" was given to Rahmatullah Dard on his book "Dard" (Judges: Ayaz Daudzai, Zaitoon Bano, Abdul Karim Baryaley), in Balochi "Mast Tauq Ali Award" was given to Zafar Ali Zafar on his book "Hamboeen Dazot" (Judges: Muhammad Baig Begal, Dr Naimatullah Gichki, Muhammad Ayub Baloch), in Seraiki "Khwaja Ghulam Farid Award" was given to Rifat Abbass on his book "Ishq Allah Saeen Jagiya" (Judges: Dr Aslam Ansari, Dr Anwar Ahmad, Aslam Rasoolpuri) in Brahui "Taj Muhammad Tajal Award" was given to Afzal Mengal on his book "Sheshlo" (Judges: Justice (r) Ameerul Mulk Mengal, Mir Salahuddin Mengal, Abdul Rahman Brahui) and in English language "Patras Bukhari Award" was given to Kamila Shamsie on her book "Broken Verses" (Judges: Dr Muhammad Ali Siddiqui, Mushir Anwar, Sr. Saeda Asadullah). An amount of Rs 50,000/- will be presented to each award winner.-PR
