Independence Day celebrated in Lahore

Like other parts of Pakistan, the 59th Independence Day of Pakistan was also celebrated here on Monday with great enthusiasm and reaffirmation of commitment to continue struggle for the cause of the country and progress.
The day dawned with special prayers in the mosques for the stability, prosperity and security of the country and for the early success of the Kashmiris indigenous struggle for the achievement of their legitimate right to self-determination through the liberation of the occupied territory from the long Indian subjugation.
The flag hoisting ceremonies, rallies, processions and the colourful functions were held under the aegis of various public and private sector institutions as well as social, political, religious and cultural organisations in all small and major towns and cities of Punjab.
Participants of the colourful flag hoisting ceremonies sung the national anthem simultaneously with the nation-wide programme for fluttering of the national flag at 8.58 am when the traffic on all roads also come to a halt and the nation joined singing the national anthem. Justice Khawaja Mohammad Sharif, Senior Judge of Lahore High Court, hoisted national flag at LHC Building at a simple but impressive ceremony held in connection with Independence Day celebrations.
Earlier, he inspected guard of honour presented by police guard. National anthem was also played on the occasion. Later, Justice Sharif prayed for the solidarity and prosperity of the country and unity in the Muslim Ummah. The ceremony was attended by Lahore High Court judges, officers and staff of the High Court.
