Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday said the elements trying to disrupt peace in the country from time to time are the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.
Underlining the importance of unity, peace and harmony between people belonging to various schools of thought for prosperity of the country, the Prime Minister said Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and brotherhood. The Prime Minister was talking to a delegation of notables and Ulema of Shia community led by Senator Muhammad Abbas Komaili at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday.
He said in Pakistan, everyone has the right to freely practice his or her faith adding that Pakistan is a good example of a harmonious polity country.
The Prime Minister said the problems, which occasionally emerge between people belonging to various schools of thought are created by the vested interest who want to see conflict, violence and backwardness in the country.
He emphasised that Ulema and Mushaikh belonging to various schools of thought should promote dialogue and a sense of nationhood to frustrate the nefarious designs of the perpetrators of violence.
The Prime Minister said government has made major headway into the investigations of the murder of Allama Hassan Turabi as the culprit was quickly identified.
He said the government is now focusing to identify and arrest the planners in order to eliminate the possibility of recurrence of such gory crimes.
He said steps are being taken to stop the publication and distribution of hate material and the law enforcing agencies are following this issue with full vigor.
The members of the delegation appreciated the measures taken by the government to promote unity and harmony in the country.
