The Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing notice to the Punjab home secretary for August 23, has directed him to submit a detailed report in a petition filed against house arrest of Jammat-ud-Dua chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.
The petitioner, Maimona Saeed wife of Hafiz Saeed contended that the respondent government illegally and without lawful authority detained her husband which is against the fundamental rights and violative to constitutional provisions. She said that her husband is neither involved in any criminal activity nor required to law-enforcing agencies in any criminal case. She said that the respondents only to please their high ups issued detention orders of her husband. She prayed to the court to declare the notification putting her husband under house arrest as illegal and without lawful authority.
The court, after hearing petitioner's counsel at length, issued notices to the respondents and called for a detailed report till next date of hearing.
