The construction of district jail Toba Tek Singh would be completed by the end of this year with an amount of Rs 98.635 million. Punjab Minister for Communication & Works, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan stated this while presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday. Secretary C&W Ahmadyar Khan and other officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was briefed that barracks, death cells, watch towers, administration block, factory shed, godown and perimeter wall of the jail have been constructed.
The minister was informed that Rs 95.635 million had been spent up to June 2006 on this project whereas Rs 3 million have been allocated for the current fiscal year. He directed the chief engineer works to speed up work so that this project could be completed well in time. He also directed to ensure quality of construction material.
