At least 11 robbers were killed and one injured critically Thursday in a gun battle with police in western Bangladesh, police said. Police surrounded a village in Pabna district early on Thursday following a tip-off that a criminal group was planning raids nearby, assistant sub-inspector Ain Uddin told AFP.
"After more than 50 policemen surrounded the village the robbers opened fire and we returned fire to fight them off," he said. "Eleven of them were killed in the gun battle with police and one was injured critically," said Uddin, adding that the wounded man was not expected to survive.
