FBI team arrives in Bahawalpur

A two-member team of FBI reached at Bahawalpur to get basic information about Rashid Rauf and environment of the city. The team also visited a number of religious seminaries and mosques. When contacted the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ghulam Haider Marth neither confirmed the arrival of the team nor denied it.
However he said that a team of the Central Intelligence Department (CID) led by DSP Khawar Zaman Lodhi keeping vigilant eyes at the suspect's and visitors of Model town B and C. It kept Khalid's brother-in-law Maulana Suhaib under house arrest since Wednesday evening unofficially.
However Police authorities said," we have taken these measures for the security of relatives and friends of Rashid Rauf alias Khalid adding he said that Rauf was arrested by secret agencies in Zhob (Balochistan) on the report of an ex-serviceman.
They said that Rashid Rauf was in Kandhar last month and he was coming back to Bahawalpur via Chaman, Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob and Loralai. He had to leave for London via Dubai in first week of August from Multan airport. Someone purchased his ticket in Peshawar but the concerned officials could not confirm this information. However majority of the Bahawalpur was confident that Rashid Rauf was not arrested from Bahawalpur nor he was an activist of Jaish-i-Muhammad.
