NAB arrests former SHO

A Police Inspector and ex-Station House Officer of Ferozabad Police Station, was arrested on Friday by NAB Sindh on charges of corruption, corrupt practices and for taking bribe of Rs 4.5 million as illegal gratification.
According to the NAB Sindh, during an inquiry against M/s CCI Associates Hyderabad, a forex company, Najam Yousuf told that he was arrested alongwith Alay Farooqi and Hisham Rizvi by Ferozabad Police Karachi on April 2, 2001 in cases FIR No 153/2001 registered against Directors/Owners of M/s. CFC Global Macau Company, Karachi, another forex company, to which he had no concern.
He alleged that Inspector Khan Shah Nawaz, the then SHO Ferozabad Police Station Karachi demanded Rs 3 million for their release, which was paid to the SHO in cash. Later, the SHO further demanded Rs 1.5 million for arranging their bails, which was also paid to him, thus bringing the total amount paid to Rs 4.5 million as bribe for their release.
DG NAB Sindh ordered an investigation in the matter on July 7, 2005. The Court on Friday issued non-bailable warrant and the accused inspector Khan Shah Nawaz was arrested by NAB Sindh and will be produced before the Accountability Court for trial.
