This year around 382 less workers are eligible to use their voting right in forth coming annual general election of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) as compared to last year.
Sources said that the chamber has fixed August 18,2006, as last date for renewing membership of KCCI, to become eligible for voting. During this period only 8,956 members have renewed their membership whereas, there were 9338 registered eligible voters last year.
The sources said a very large number of KCCI members remain busy in KCCI exhibition held in the last leg of July 2006, due to which they fail to renew their membership. Sources hoped that the chamber may extend the last date of renewal of membership.
