Pollution-free environment for industries being planned

Industries Minister Punjab Muhamad Ajmal Cheema on Saturday said a comprehensive strategy was being evolved for ensuring pollution-free environment in industrial sector of the province. "Hefty amount is being spent on the project to ready for implementation," he told this scribe.
The minister said that government had focused its special attention on resolving the problems being confronted by the business community. "The promotion of industrial sector and enhancing the export volume was top on the government agenda and in this regard many steps had been taken," he said.
He revealed that an industrial zone for tanneries would soon be developed near Sambrial where all existing tanneries would be shifted to the proposed zone. "Punjab government has already released funds amounting to Rs 90 million for the tannery zone," he said.
The minister said that due to the business-friendly policies of the government a large number of the foreign and overseas Pakistani investors had showed their willingness in investing in different industrial projects. He further said that special efforts were being made for strengthening the SME sector and resolving its problem. He said that in major industrial towns including Sialkot, SME's industrial estate would be set up in Punjab.
