Rains play havoc with crops

Provincial Law Minister Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed has said that the recent rains in Sindh have played havoc with standing crop of cotton and disturbed sowing of onion, chillies and other cash crops.
Talking to Business Recorder he said that the standing crop of cotton would be the worst sufferer and all those who have either sown onion and chillies would have to bear the loss due to heavy rains.
He said that Kunri, Umerkot and other areas in Thar dependent upon chillies would have to face difficult time. In his opinion more rains as have been forecast would be disastrous for the farmers. He said that the government would consider all options to help farmers.
