20 Aug, 2006

State-owned Singapore port operator PSA International said its flagship Singapore terminals moved 4.75 percent more containers in the first seven months of 2006 than a year earlier.
The firm, which operates ports in Singapore and abroad, said in a statement it handled 13.45 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a standard industry measure, in the period, compared with 12.84 million TEUs in the same period last year.
PSA also runs ports in Belgium, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Korea and Thailand but said that with effect from July it is no longer providing throughput figures for its foreign business.
