The Karachi Port handled 120,166 tonnes of cargo including 100,391 tonnes import, 19,775 tonnes export cargo and 2,723 containers during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The cargo comprised of 59,966 tonnes dry cargo including 40,066 tonnes general cargo; 1,946 tonnes sugar; 737 tonnes yellow peas; 1,084 tonnes rice; 53 tonnes cement; 16,080 tonnes coal and 60,200 tonnes oil/Liquid cargo. Three ships namely Iran Kordestan, Ltc Calvin P. Titus and Al-Marwah sailed out to sea during the report period. Five vessels viz MT Shalamar, Iran Kordestan, Noshiro-III, Christos and Iran Tabatabaei currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Corinthiakos, Iran Tabatabaei, Noshiro-III and MT Shalamar expected to sail on Saturday, while two vessels viz Atlantic Trader and Malakand are expected to sail on Sunday.
Three vessels viz Pacific Pioneer, Explorer-1 and Atlantic Trader due to arrive on Saturday, while five ships namely Maersk Arkansas, Thor Captain, Ocean Island, Noor-e-Mostafa and BBC Ukrain are due to arrive on Sunday. Five vessels viz Kota Permani, Westermoor, Pegasus Ace, Harmina-2 and Lynx are due to arrive on Monday.
The cargo comprised of 22,810 tonnes furnace oil; 8,900 tonnes edible oil; 2,370 tonnes cement; 10,536 tonnes iron ore and 27,132 tonnes containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV Mega-1 and MT Splendour sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships namely MSC Natalia and MT Destiny-1 are expected to sail on Saturday.
A total of eight vessels viz Al-Marwah, Chem Adriatic, Elka Vassiliki, Al-Mukhtarah, Explorer, Marblue, Madre and Ryu Gyong are currently at the outer anchorage. Three ships namely MT Chem Adriatic, MT Elka Vassiliki and MT Al-Marwah due to take berths on Saturday.
Three vessels viz MT Chemstar Hero, CV Kou Chang and CV MSC Delia with chemicals and containers due to arrive on Saturday, while two more ships namely CV MSC Socotra and CV MOL Kauri are due to arrive on Sunday.
A total cargo volume of 571,404 tonnes comprising 461,635 tonnes import and 109,769 tonnes export cargo was handled during last week ending on Friday, 18th August 2006.
The cargo comprised of 94,170 furnace oil; 100,212 tonnes diesel oil; 11,216 edible oil; 34,134 tonnes sugar; 17,520 tonnes chemicals; 2,624 tonnes LPG, 42,324 tonnes coke; 52,930 tonnes iron ore and 216,274 tonnes containerised cargo.
A total of twenty-one ships took berths to load/offload the above cargoes, while twenty-one vessels sailed out to sea during the reporting week.
