The line-up of vessels waiting to load sugar in Brazilian ports dropped to 46 from 48 last week, shipping agent Williams said Thursday. In a weekly report, it said 36 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, down from 40 last week.
The center-south, which accounts for 88 percent of national output, is just over halfway through harvesting a forecast record crop. Santos port accounted for 82 percent of sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports.
