The Punjab government under a project entitled 'clean drinking water for all' will install 3,464 water filtration plants, at a cost of Rs 4,900 million in the province up to Union Council level by 2007.
Parliamentary Secretary Local Bodies Punjab Raja Rashid Hafeez said this while talking with notables of his constituency who called on him in Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Rawalpindi district office here on Sunday. Raja Rashid Hafeez said that in order to ensure the provision of clean drinking water to the urban and rural community, the Punjab government was giving special attention.
He said with 12 new ones, some 386 water supply and sanitation schemes will be completed during the financial year 2006-07 with the total financial outlay of Rs 5,200 million. This will substantially enhance water supply and sanitation coverage of communities and improve their quality of life, he added.
