KW&SB NOC made mandatory to sell property

The sale of property without dues clearance certificate from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) would be banned, a high-level meeting decided here on Sunday. The meeting of Town Nazims and officials of CDGK and KWSB was held with City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
The meeting approved the suggestion that for sale of property in Karachi the production of KW&SB dues clearance certificate would be made mandatory.
It mulled over various ways and means to increase the revenue of the KW&SB. It was told that monthly billing system of the Board taxes was a successful experience, and this time bills were issued to 200,000 more consumers as compared to past.
Meanwhile, it was also decided that KW&SB executive engineers having dual charges, would be relieved from extra charge, while union councils of Gadap, Bin Qasim and Keamari towns that were out of the ambit of the KW&SB were given to the Board.
The City Nazim during the meeting expressed his displeasure over the performance of the KW&SB.
In another meeting held in his office, he said that they had learnt a lot from the recent rains and improvements would be brought so that this situation could not be repeated during rainy season next year.
