Ombudsman directs clearance of dues

22 Aug, 2006

The Punjab Ombudsman has directed Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore to make payment of TA/DA bill worth Rs16,907/- to a retired headmaster Amanullah. The complainant contended that he was appointed as secrecy officer for supervision of centralised marking at Central Marking Centre, Government Degree College, Sheikhupura.
After completing the task, he submitted a TA/DA bill amounting to Rs24,657/- to BISE Lahore. However, the bill was passed for making the payment of Rs7,750/- only.
In his decision, the ombudsman said that complainant's TA/DA bill had been approved after much delay and undertaking of the complainant foregoing his claim had no legal effect.
Therefore, he directed the Board to pay the balance of TA/DA claim for which the complainant qualified under decision 3(4) taken in the meeting of the board held on July 29, 1998.
