Women's Expo to open in Lahore on September 8

22 Aug, 2006

After receiving overwhelming response in Karachi, the Women's Expo is now being organised in Lahore from September 8 to 10 at Fortress Expo Centre. The three-day exhibition is the National Interactive Platform for Pakistani women that would highlight the their positive image.
The idea behind the Women's Expo is to develop a national women's interactive platform to integrate the efforts of all relevant quarters that are working on the women development and empowerment. This interactive platform would help improve collaboration and bridge the gap amongst the government, non-governmental organisation sector, corporate and public sectors, said the expo organisers.
The first Women's Expo held in Karachi last April, participated by more than 0.3 million women. According to the statement, the exhibition is being organised by Fourth Dimension (Pvt) Ltd.
According to the organisers, the exhibition would serve as a platform where over hundred thousand Pakistani women from all age groups classified as students, housewives and working women would congregate; meet and discuss their issues; vocalise their concerns; celebrate their identity, achievements and individuality; mark their existence as an equal gender; highlight their contribution to the society and converge efforts towards Women Development and Empowerment.
Besides providing this single interactive platform, it will provide various opportunities to generate maximum awareness regarding women rights and encourage women's participation in all spheres of life, recognise their contribution and highlight their multiple roles in Pakistani society.
The three-day exhibition would promote women's gender mainstreaming and provide them with networking opportunities to celebrate their success and achievements.
