Government would have to withdraw its decision to deport or not extending the visas of foreign students because it is repugnant to charter of United Nations and basic human rights and United Kingdom or United States did not impose ban on the entry of students of even suspected states, said Qari Muhammad Hanif Jhulandari Secretary General of Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia while talking to a group of journalists here today.
"We would never accept the foreign or government financial aid nor we accept any pressure for changing the syllabus and presenting the accounts for audit, nor we hand over our foreign students to any agency," Qari Hanif Jhulandary stated categorically.
He said that there was no continuation of policies nor co-ordination among the superior and subordinate staff, even commitments made by President of Pakistan are not being implemented. It seems some elements wanted to create a state of confrontation between the religious seminaries and the government.
Qari said," no religious seminary or foreign student was involved in any unlawful activities nor any complaint was lodged against them and we demand that government should allow foreign students to study in religious seminaries like India." He further said that bureaucracy was main hurdle in the way of registration because it was demanding illegal gratification, unnecessary documents.
To a question Qari said, "Certificates of religious institution are valid in recently held senate elections but these were invalid in local bodies elections, even courts are issuing controversial judgements. He said that government should face Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in political arena and it should use the "Asnad" issue for blackmailing the Ulema. He asked when a person can be appointed as teacher on the basis of these Asnad (certificates) why does he not contest the election.
Qari Hanif Jhulandari disclosed that Minister of Interior Aftab Sherpao had assured him that re-entry visas would be issued to the foreign students.
