Malpractices in agriculture markets discussed

24 Aug, 2006

The administration of fruits and vegetables markets and market committees has been directed to ensure that price fixation in the market be completed by 0600 hours in the morning and subsequently the price lists be distributed to all the shopkeepers by 0700 hours at the latest.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Agri-marketing Department held here on Wednesday to review the steps taken for implementation on the fixed prices in the markets.
The meeting was informed that surprise visits were being conducted to check that agriculture produces in the market were being purchased and sold at notified prices.
The meeting decided that special teams would continue paying surprise visits to the markets and would take strict action against those involved in malpractices and found guilty of corruption and negligence.
