HEC allows NUML to restart PhD programmes

Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Thursday allowed National University of Modern Languages (NUML) to start admission in PhD programmes in all the relevant fields apart from the current MPhil programmes.
The decision was taken by a committee consisting of Vice-Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Professor Dr Muhammad Qasim Jan, Chairman, National Language Authority, Islamabad, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik and Adviser (QA&LI), HEC, Professor Dr, Riaz H. Qureshi to review the earlier decision of HEC to stop admissions in the Ph.D programmes at NUML.
During the visit of the committee, Rector NUML Brigadier Dr Aziz Ahmed Khan (Retd) gave a comprehensive presentation to the committee about the new appointments of PhD faculty made by NUML, adoption of HEC rules for award of PhD and improvement in facilities since the visit of the PhD Programme Evaluation Committee.
The committee also met with the Deans of the University and visited Library, Laboratory and teaching facilities and found them satisfactory according to the criteria set by the HEC.
The committee appreciated the achievements of the University in respect of enormous improvement in faculty development, facilities for research and adoption of HEC rules in totality. Approving the recommendations of the committee the chairman HEC allowed NUML to begin admission in PhD programmes.
