Partly Facetious: an obscure twist to 'do unto others what you would others do unto you'

26 Aug, 2006

"We have reached the height of the ridiculous."
"Who in particular?"
"Our politicians."
"I am afraid that's where minimum qualifications come into play. See if you are educated you don't go to the ridiculous."
"Or so you think."
"So I think."
"But you are wrong. The person who took the whole thing to the ridiculous was the Chosen One and he is supposed to be educated."
"These days he's upset that the Opposition, combined for a change, has filed a no-confidence motion against him."
"So he is excused for doing the ridiculous?"
"Maybe he was guided by less educated colleagues."
"Maybe!"
"What did he actually do?"
"He has filed an application with the Secretariat Police seeking registration of an FIR against the Maulana party - MMA - under the blasphemy act."
"So those who reckon they are the most religious or going to be..."
"Precisely."
"Rather silly."
"I agree."
"So the Maulanas were, allegedly, blasphemous? How?"
"They tore up the Women's Bill..."
"That is meant to make the West think that after six years the Government has done something for women who are raped and then punished as well..."
"Right that Bill, but as it stands that bill contained the words Quran and Hadith."
"Is this part of the much touted enlightenment that our President keeps talking about?"
"He has to know what his Chosen One is doing."
"What happened to the saying 'do unto others what you would others do unto you'."
"I guess our politicians rearranged the words of that phrase."
"Hunh?"
"To become: do unto others what others would do unto you."
"So the Maulanas would have done this to the Chosen One?"
"If they could get away with us, sure."
"Right it all depends on what the traffic will bear."
