Softbank Corp said on August 22 that it plans to hire an executive of Qualcomm Inc to help rebuid the mobile phone unit it bought from Vodafone Group Plc.
Tetsuzo Matsumoto, a senior vice president of chip developer Qualcomm, will join Softbank's wireless unit as chief strategy officer from September 1, the company said. Matsumoto, 66, had led Qualcomm's Japan unit since 1998.
