Message from Governor of Punjab

28 Aug, 2006

It is a matter of great joy for me to congratulate Sui Northern Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), its management its staff and the Government of Punjab on accomplishing the provision of natural gas to Murree; a project which has been under special focus of my office.
It is indeed pleasing to note that this unique and challenging task has been completed with such brilliance and efficiency. This is a revolutionary venture, which has enabled everlasting and polynomial effects on the quality of life in the area and shall go along way in bringing about an overall economic development of this important hill station.
This picturesque, forested mountainous area which is home to numerous forms of life is a rare and invaluable gift of nature. Tourists, both from within and abroad, have been flocking this serene and scenic spot which has placed strain on nature's delicate ecological system.
The beautiful and precious forests of Murree are the greatest victims of our needs of fire, fuel and warmth.
I am hopeful that revival of the forests will now be facilitated and will help preserve and enhance the natural eco-system which will in turn, attract even greater number of sightseers and nature lovers from all over the world. I can safely presume that this endeavour will serve, as the basis of a socio-economic revolution in this remote and less privileged corner of the country. On the other hand it will act as a catalyst of ecological balance.
The warm hearted people of this area, who have so far braved the hardships of the life here with a smile, shall be the greatest beneficiary of this monumental change. Such projects of national importance reflect the Government's commitment towards the well being of the people who are the greatest asset and resource of our nation. I wish SNGPL all out success and its future endeavours of national interest.
