Transmission system, the backbone of gas industry

28 Aug, 2006

We are proud and thankful to Almighty Allah that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, SNGPL has constructed a transmission gas line up to the height of 6000 ft.
It is really an outstanding and remarkable achievement of our Projects Department and can be compared with any international construction and design.
Now, another challenging task is in front of us ie successful operation and maintenance of newly constructed gas line.
So far, we are successfully operating and maintaining gas lines in hilly areas of Pirkoh/ Loti, Abbottabad and Sawat, etc, but this all can only be achieved with the close co-operation of local people who can provide us a good co-ordination in dealing with maintaining a good Right of Way (ROW) for patrolling and maintenance, to save gas line from any encroachment and to secure it from any sabotage activity.
Here, we would like to introduce our activities so that people may know something about SNGPL and its Transmission Department.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited is the largest natural gas Transmission-Distribution integrated Gas Company in the country and is a dynamic fast-developing organisation, both in technical as well as in corporate sectors.
Basically an operational outfit, Transmission Department handles the entire operation of a lengthy network of high-pressure gas lines comprising 6,200 KM in length, varying from 6" to 36" of diameter in accordance with the Mineral Gas Safety Rules, Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) regulations and International Gas Transmission Industry's standards.
The various activities undertaken in Transmission Department are gas control, hydraulic and simulation studies, pipeline operations, metering, coating & wrapping of pipelines and maintenance activities.
Transmission department is a refined blend of engineering as well as servicing activities and their proportionate diversity is a key factor for the progress of the Company and consequently a sound nation and prosperous country.
