Epidemic kills six in quake zone

At least six persons have been killed due to outbreak of stomach-related diseases in the quake-hit areas of Kashmir. The health authorities termed polluted water as the main cause of the epidemic diseases.
According to health officials, 400 people were affected only in a village Gujarbandi, some 51 kilomters from Muzaffarabad.
The officials said health facilities are being provided there and after two days they would overcome the situation. They said that during the past two weeks six people have been died in the earthquake areas.
They said that maximum people were affected in Muzaffarabad where 5,000 people suffered only in one week till the mid of August.
The doctors said that for the first time a large number of people suffered from such diseases.
The health managers have called upon the people to use boiled water for drinking purpose. They also urged the government to restore the civic facilities for the general public.
