NWFP Pakistan People's Party (PPP) President Rahimdad Khan has termed the rejoice expressed by certain quarters in the government as immoral and against the spirit of parliamentary form of democracy.
Talking to newsmen here at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday, he said some cronies of the ruling junta is justifying the killing of the senior politician Akbar Khan Bugti, saying it would have last standing repercussion on the politics of the country.
The PPP leader said it was astonishing that central PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain has condemned the incident as most unfortunate but on the other hand some elements of the same party is defending the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.
"Pakistan is not the name of only districts where huge developmental schemes are in progress while leaving other parts of the country backward," he lamented, saying that small federating units, Balochistan, NWFP and Sindh should be given priority in development to remove their backwardness. He said that backward areas of Punjab should also be developed to eliminate poverty of the people of such areas.
Condemning the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti, he said after the hanging of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the killing of Nawab Bugti is the second largest tragedy. "The promotion of the tradition of hanging and killing of political leaders is not a good omen for the future of the country," he added.
The PPP leader said the incident has created 1971-like situation in the country, and the statements of some ministers in federal cabinet is adding fuel to the fire.
He said Nawab Akbar Bugti has never rejected negotiations or political solution to the problem of Balochistan. He, however, said the government was not interested in the talks and bringing improvement in the situation.
Rahimdad Khan said the federal government constituted a parliamentary committee, but its report was neither presented before the parliament nor the government, which he said is condemnable.
He said the reaction of the incident and torching of national flag in the first federal capital, Karachi, is dissemination wrong impression among the comity of nations.
"Earlier, the killing of Chinese engineers and now the killing of Abkar Bugti would keep investors away from Pakistan," he added. "Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was an important politician and symbol for the struggle of the rights of deprived nations and giving him such kind of treatment has no justification," the PPP leader said.
He said all political parties would protest the killing of Bugti both in and outside the parliament. However, he said that future line of action in this connection would be announced by the central leadership of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, another PPP leader Farid Khan Toofan said after the sacrifice of ZA Bhutto, it is the second important incident in the history of the country. The matter is condemnable to high extent.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) has condemned the brutal killing of veteran politician Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and his companions without any justification and termed his killing as another blow to the integrity of the country after the debacle of East Pakistan at the hands of military junta.
