Provincial Steering Committee approved as many as 99 new development schemes costing Rs 40 million under Tameer-e-Punjab Programme (TPP).
The committee met here on Monday under the chairmanship of Punjab Minister for Local Government, Law and Public Prosecution, Muhammad Basharat Raja, which was also attended by the Secretary Local Government, Director General Local Government and senior officers from Finance Department and P&D Board, disclosed an official.
Raja Basharat informed the meeting that under TPP, as many as 685 schemes were approved for the year 2003-04 for which Rs 309.663 million were released whereas 672 schemes were approved during the year 2004-05 and Rs 246.551 million were released for these projects.
Similarly, Rs 132.544 million were released for 280 schemes during 2005-06. It was informed in the meeting that Provincial Steering Committee gives clearance to the projects identified by the elected MPAs on special seats. The Committee also reviewed overall implementation status of TPP and Rs 1252.556 million were utilised against the release of Rs 1694.034 million for 4015 schemes in the year 2004-05.
Similarly, Rs 856.690 million were spent out of Rs 1537.278 million, released for 3099 development projects in 2005-06. The Minister directed to improve the pace of development and ensure use of quality material in the projects.
