Quake-hit areas: 5,000 pre-fabricated housing units to be delivered

The biggest consignment of 5,000 pre-fabricated housing units would be delivered to the destitute in Muzaffarabad within a next fortnight. Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Atiq Ahmad on Tuesday told PTV that the houses have been prepared with the help of brotherly country Saudi Arabia.
While some more consignments were also expected to be delivered among the needy soon. The concerned authorities were working round the clock for ensuring provision of shelter to all before the advent of winter season, he said.
The entire reconstruction plan has jointly been devised. Material hubs have already been established across the valley aiming to facilitate people and making the reconstruction process smooth. People of high risk areas would be provided safer alternate place of living. A big chunk of land has been earmarked for the people of vulnerable areas.
A plan of over Rs 04 billion has already been finalised to rebuild maximum official buildings on modern lines at the rates ranging form Rs 5,200 per sq feet to Rs 5,500 per sq feet. Most units would be completed and delivered before November 2006.
