Wazirabad institute of cardiology project approved

The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved the project of Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology costing Rs 1028.096 million. An amount of Rs 612.618 million would be spent on the construction of building while remaining amount would be utilised for procurement of medical equipment.
According to Planning and Development Board's spokesman, this would be a third cardiac institution in Punjab after Lahore and Multan. Chief Minister also allocated a piece of land measuring 65 kanals situated on the main G.T. Road.
According to the scheme, the Institute would have two storey building plus basement with overall covered area of 176485 square feet. Doctors and nursing hostels were also part of the project besides construction of nine residences for officers and two for officials.
The institute, which would cater 300 out-patients per day, would also provide indoor, outdoor and emergency services. It would be having the facilities of blood bank, pharmacy, pathology, histopathology, biochemistry, hematology, serology and blood transfusion, microbiology, mycology, lab bacteriology, parasitological, virology, electron and micro lab, genetics and biotechnology, special biochemistry, bio-medical engineering, immunology and radio immunoassay.
