Potohar Town Assembly members boycott session

Members of Potohar Town Assembly hold walk-out from the session to protest the delay in construction of Town Hall and have warned the Town Government that if the hall was not made available for next session, the town assembly would meet on road.
The Town Assembly met here in Police Hall in Police Lines with Chaudhry Muhammad Farooq, Naib Nazim Potohar Town and Convenor in the Chair. 41 members of the town assembly including Naib Nazims of union councils and lady councillors hold boycott soon after Convenor, Chaudhary Farooq took the seat. They left the hall in protest while Convenor met them outside the hall and brought them back to continue the session.
Convenor on this occasion has ruled that Town Government should make sure that the hall should be ready on the next session. Showing complete solidarity with town councillors, he said that if the hall was not ready till next session, the Town Assembly met on road under tents. The Assembly expressed serious concern over purchase of computers and other commodities by the government after bypassing the purchase committee of the house.
"There are possibilities of bungling in the accounts," said Chaudhary Riasat in his resolution. Convenor asked the government to make sure complete check of accounts by committee. TMO, Khwaja Latif assured the house that the members of committee would be provided with details. He said that only computers have been purchase so far by inviting quotation from market. He said that for purchase of vehicles a draft has been sent to Suzuki Company to avoid any sort of misappropriation.
Potohar Town Assembly took serious note of the delay in construction of Dhamiyal and Chakri Road. Masood Akhtar Naib Nazim Dhamiyal in his resolution has said that sub-standard material was being used in road and drainage construction. He said that after passage of more than six months road was not completed.
House has asked the government to take the issue with C&W department to immediate completion of the roads. House also approved a resolution of Haji Irshad, Naib Nazim Chakbeli Khan demanding headmaster and teachers for a school which was upgraded 16 years back.
House also approved resolution of Chaudhary Riasat demanding arms license for naib nazims for their self-defence. House has asked the government to provide the license to naib nazims as soon as possible. TMO asked the councillors to provide the lists of the deserving and destitute in their union councils for provision of "Susta Ration", under CM's package. Convenor adjourned the house sine die.
