No strike in Sialkot

02 Sep, 2006

Strike call was totally flopped in Sialkot and its adjoining areas on Friday. All shopping centres, petrol pumps, commercial areas and restaurants remained opened in the city. The transport remained on the roads and people were busy in their daily chore and trade and commerce activities remained usual in the city.
All trade associations and Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry remained opened. The district administration had taken numerous effective measures to maintain law and order and for protecting the life and property of the people in the areas. Meanwhile, Sialkot District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema said that the people had rejected the so-called wheel-jam and shutter down call and the political balloon of opposition had been deflated.
Talking to media persons here on Friday afternoon he said the people had no interest with the negative and purposeless motives of opposition. The traders' community had played an instrumental role in failure of strike call and people had expressed their full confidence on PML-Q government and its policies, he said.
