The Punjab Auqaf Department has planned to establish as many as 15 model religious seminaries in 15 different districts and initially an amount of Rs 7.5 million has been earmarked in the budget for the purpose.
Punjab Auqaf Minister, Sahibzada Saeedul Hassan Shah, stated this while presiding over a departmental meeting, here on Tuesday, a spokesman of the department said.
The proposed model religious seminaries, to be set up at the level of districts, would be attached with the shrines of saints where the students would be imparted Islamic as well as modern education, including computer literacy, English language and the science subjects, the minister said.
The meeting was informed that initial planning has been finalised to implement the project. These model seminaries would be set up in Lahore and other major cities in the first phase.
