IIT director awarded

The President of Pakistan, on the eve of 114th birth anniversary of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, has awarded Maadr-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah medal to Dr Farhana Shah, Director Institute of Information Technology, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
Dr Farhana Shah received her PhD in Computer Sciences with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence from the Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. She also possesses MS degree from North-eastern University, USA, says a press release.
Dr Shah is the first one among the few women of the world, who have specialised in Artificial Intelligence, an area experiencing rapid advancement of the frontiers of knowledge. She is the first to be appointed Professor of Information Technology in a public sector university. She is also the first woman to have effectively converted the dream of an elite Institute of Information Technology into reality in less than three years.-PR
