'CNG stations filling air instead of gas'

07 Sep, 2006

Transporters have expressed serious concern over the negligence of the administration for not keeping proper check and balance on CNG filling stations in the city, who are fleecing people by allegedly filling air instead of gas.
Raja Masood President Suzuki Drivers Association, said that most of the CNG stations in the city are filling air in the cylinders which is destroying vehicles mechanically.
"We have raised the issue with the government and sought administration's help on this important issue, but no heed was paid to our concern," Raja Masood said adding that administration seems helpless in checking CNG outlets.
He asked the local administration to device a mechanism to check the CNG station as their filling machines usually give wrong reading. Compression of gas is not at par with the set standards which is depriving people of their money and damaging their vehicles", he added.
"Many CNG stations are giving 10 to 15 percent rebate on gas filling. They should be especially checked", he demanded saying that these stations are filling air in the cylinders.
He demanded constitution of a high-level committee to check these CNG stations.
