Considerable anxiety has been caused by the inundating of the National Highway near Kotri by the flash floods, resulting in difficulties for the transporters and the railway service between Karachi and Hyderabad, reports UPP correspondent.
There were frantic inquiries with the Railways and the Highways department by passengers and motorists about the situation.
It may be mentioned here that earlier last month the railway link between Karachi and Hyderabad was disconnected due to the collapse of an old bridge on the rail line near Ran Pathani.
The repair of the bridge and construction of alternate bridge took over three weeks, resulting in big disruption of railway traffic. The Sindh government has urgently called for report on the situation from the Building and Roads Department urging that all steps be taken to keep the road link functional and any water on the highway sections should be cleared.
