Firmness prevailed in the open market on Friday as the rupee did not show any change versus the dollar for buying and selling at 60.45 and 60.50, dealers said. The rupee did not show any change as supply was enough to meet the market demand, they said.
The rupee also managed to recover 59 paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 76.64 and Rs 76.74, respectively. In the world markets, the dollar drifted lower versus the major currencies, dealers said.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar's trading commenced at Thursday's closing rates of Rs 60.50 and Rs 60.60 on buying and selling sides, respectively. The dollar witnessed fractional change of one-two paisa in its value during the day's trading but finally closed at the opening levels, the dealers added.
Similarly, the local currency maintained upward trend and further appreciated its value against the pound sterling. The pound's buying rate reduced from Rs 113.70 of Thursday to Rs 113.25 while selling rate declined from Rs 114.00 to Rs 113.70, the dealers added.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.50 (buying) and Rs 60.60 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe any further change in the second session and closed at Rs 60.50 (buying) and Rs 60.60 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 113.50 (buying) and Rs 113.80 (selling) against same last rate. It did not witness further change and closed at Rs 113.50 (buying) and Rs 113.80 (selling).
