Comprehensive plan for quake victims relief: Elahi

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims and an amount of Rs 6,000 is being provided to each stricken family on monthly basis.
These views were expressed by him after receiving a cheque of Rs 3.6 million from Chairman Pakistan Exporters Association, Rana Arif Tauseef and a cheque of Rs 0.5 million from Secretary General Pakistan Nurses Federation, Miss. Nisab Akhtar for the earthquake victims, here on Friday.
Federal Minister for Textile, Mushtaq Cheema and District Nazim Faisalabad, Rana Zahid Tauseef were also present on this occasion. The chief minister said that a separate institution by the name of Disaster Relief Management Society has been set up in the province under which 'Support a Family Programme' is being implemented which is resulting in provision of relief to thousands of affected families.
He said that traders' community and other segments of the society have played an active role for the success of this programme. Apart from this, a large number of local and foreign donors are showing keen interest in this programme, which has greatly helped in rehabilitating and mitigating the sufferings of quake-victims. He said that all necessary measures have been adopted to ensure transparency in the utilisation of amounts provided for the calamity-hit people. He said that constant contact between the donor and the stricken family has been ensured so that the donor could help the calamity-hit family regarding education, health and employment.
Federal Minister for Textile, Mushtaq Cheema said that present government is making sincere efforts for mitigating the problems of poor segment of the society. He said that the Institute of Cardiology set up in Faisalabad would prove to be a milestone with regard to the treatment of cardiac patients. District Nazim Faisalabad, Rana Tauseef said that business community is playing an important role for the success of support a family programme and solution of other problems.
