Punjab government has prepared an action plan costing Rs 100 million for the upgradation of ten industrial estates in the Province. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday.
Under the programme Daska, Sargodha, Gujrat, Multan, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sahiwal, Gujra Khan Bahawalpur and Gujranwala industrial estates would be upgraded and work on this programme would be carried out shortly.
Under the programme all basic facilities would be ensured in these existing industrial estates to facilitate the business communities of these areas. In addition to this, the government had set aside more than Rs 8 billion for extending loan facilities to the businessmen for upgrading their workplaces and to set up new industrial units in the Punjab.
More than Rs 2 billion had already been advanced as a loan to the interested persons in various areas of the Province sources said. The government soon starts "Cluster Development programme" scheme in which training and skill development would be introduced in these industrial estates. The present government was making adequate efforts for the growth of industrial sector as well as tracking it on modern scientific industrial lines aimed at ensuring strong industrial base in the province.
The government had already introduced highly flexible industrial policy enabling the foreigner, overseas Pakistanis and other interested persons to invest in different trade field.
