APO for promoting tannery waste treatment system

The Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) Japan has stressed upon the need of promoting the Green Productivity Concept Methodology, Low Cost Tannery Waste Treatment System and their sustainable development in export oriented Sialkot city's all the leather products manufacturing industrial units and tanneries under the supervision of APO in collaboration with the business community.
Former Chairman Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA), Muhammad Anwar Butt told the newsmen, here that in a special letter to the management of Cleaner Production Center (CPC) Sialkot, the APO advanced leather techniques experts, Dr Suporn Koottatep and Professor Tay Joo Hwa said the introduction of Green Productivity Concept Methodology, Low Cost Tannery Waste Treatment System and their sustainable development in leather industrial units and tanneries had now become vital for the survival, promotion and expedition of this industry in this WTO regime, as the Green Productivity System was strictly being implemented throughout the world for curbing the menace of industrial pollution, reducing the tanneries effluent wastage.
They said that now no one could run away from implementing the Green Productivity for reducing the tanneries pollution. APO experts said although the Sialkot exporters were well quality conscious people, but the larger scale awareness about the environment protection and adopting the international standards of environment protection in leather products manufacturing industrial units was also direly required to bring boom in this industry.
It also enable the Sialkot based leather products manufacturers to compete in the international and world markets through the diversification of their traditional to non-traditional export items in this WTO regime.
