Chief Drug Inspector Sindh, Salahuddin Tunio has said that action will soon be initiated against medical stores being run in katchi abadis without drug licence. He asked wholesale chemists not to sell medicines to medical stores who do not have drug licence.
Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association at his office, Tunio said the procedure for renewal of drug licence would be simplified.
He observed that some elements offer fake dispenser certificates to innocent chemists for hefty amount and asked the medical stores and wholesale chemists to avoid submitting fake documents for obtaining drug licence. He advised them to display drug licence conspicuously. Chief Drug Inspector asked wholesale chemists to imprint their drug licence number at their shop shutter in green colour and in black colour by retail chemists.
The delegation members said on the occasion that chemists do abide by laws but some black sheep in the drug administration put the applicants of drug licence to inconvenience by resorting to delaying tactics just to mint money. Tunio said if formal complaint is lodged in this regard, he will not hesitate in taking action against the elements involved in illegal practices.
He said he would submit a proposal to Secretary Health for opening of more than one centre for issuance of drug licence in Karachi. Led by Naeem Ahmed, the delegation members included Aslam Slot, Haji Ghulam Mohammed Noorani, Shakil Nagar, Mohammed Atif Blue, Abid Shakir and others.
